Coach Platten started playing lacrosse at Jordan-Elbridge in 7th grade as a defenseman and continued all through high school. His love of lacrosse continued as an assistant coach to the fledgling Stonewall Jackson HS team in 1994, and the following year took over as varsity coach. After moving to Canandaigua in 2004, and a short break, Platten got involved with lacrosse as a youth coach when his son started playing in 3rd grade. Since 2017 he has also been a lacrosse official.

Coach Platten’s first experience with FCA was taking his SJ team to a FCA summer tournament at Gettysburg College in 1996. There he experienced the intersection of faith and sports and was instantly drawn to the FCA model. When his son, Eric, showed interest in playing club lacrosse both he and his wife instantly appreciated the mixture of faith, sports & character that FCA promoted. In addition to coaching with FCA, Platten has also served as the FCA Huddle adult leader at Canandaigua Academy since 2017. FCA’s 4 core values of Integrity, Serving, Teamwork & Excellence embodies his coaching philosophy, and serves as the foundation to his commitment to the whole student-athlete.
